Newsletter May 14th-18th

Jesus Time: We are learning about Peter in Prison.  We are focusing each day on how God invites us to pray and how he promises to hear and answer our prayers in His way and at the time when He knows best.  Read the story with your children from Acts 12:4-18
Math: We are working on covering designs with Tangrams using our tangrams they will have to explore slides, turns and flips to cover their design.  Also, we are continuing to work on identifying coins and how their values can equal other coins.  Example - 25 pennies equals 1 quarter or 5 nickels
Grab some extra change and work on this after dinner time!
Make if fun; make it a game to play.
Reading/Writing:  Our theme is Art All Around.  We are reading Warthogs Paint: A Messy Color Book

Please continue to review sight words by playing a flashcard game, hide and seek, seeing how fast they can read all of the words...and many more ways you can come up with!

Kindergarten is invited to stay the whole day on Field Day.
If you are taking your child at noon dismissal or around 2 p.m. after field day events you must sign out with Mrs. Endorf .  Thank you
Please send in your $1 donation for Ted Drewes ice cream -- this will be around 1:45 p.m. after Field Day activities are over.

End of Year Chapel with K-8th grade at 8:45 a.m.
Friendship Day
Each child brings 23 trinkets or tokens that would be a remembrance of themselves to their classmates.  It can be something like rocks, feathers, marbles, small plastic toy, coins, shells, etc.  Please no edible or living creatures. Be creative and happy hunting!
If your child's item only comes in a package of 20, we will understand.

Newsletter May 7th-11th

Jesus Time:  We are learning about Peter and the Ethiopian.  Philip shared what he knew about the Bible to someone who did not know about Jesus and also Philip used water to baptize the Ethiopian. Remember to celebrate your child's baptism birthday and share what happened on that special day.
Math Time: Working on identify coins.  Trying to see if your child can tell you the different coins and counting by 1s, 5s, and 10s, with different coins.  Also, we are continuing to work on writing our numbers.  Practice starting numbers at the top and using their best handwriting skills.
Reading/Writing:  We are starting our last reading unit: Show What You Know
Our book this week is What Do You Know!
Our new sight words for the week are: with and my
We are celebrating the year of new things we learned and what we are still practicing.

Work on rhyming words at home.  There was a packet of words sent home around report card time, if you need new flash cards please ask.  This is a skill that will be tested over the next week.

Moms and Muffins

Children need to wear khakis pant/short/skirt and a spring colored plain shirt

Dads and Donuts
Friday, May 18th
Our doors will open at 8:00 a.m. for Dads to enjoy donuts with their child.
Our schedule will be very tight, we plan on reading a story and sharing some songs with our dads before field day.
Field day begins at 8:35 a.m.

Field Day
Parents are welcome to volunteer for Field Day activities.  Please let Mrs. Endorf know if you will be helping that day.  Lunch will be provided by Chef Bill.  If adults are eating a BBQ lunch, Mrs. Endorf needs to know by Friday, May 11th for the lunch count.  Students may order lunch through their TADS account the morning of Field Day.  Parents will be charged $3.25 to their TADS account.
Ted Drewes ice cream will be provided for $1.00
Please give your $1 to Mrs. Endorf  ASAP.


Making our Fish Bricks

As our year ends in Kindergarten, I wanted something the students 
cherish for a long time -- what better than concrete!  
Here is our class making Fish Bricks!

Jesus Time: This week we are learning from Acts 2:22-39 Peter's Sermon.  We are talking about how we are all sinners who need a Savior and how we learn about our Savoir through God's word.  God blesses us with pastors who tell us God's Word and help us learn about Jesus.
Math: Working on problem solving by drawing pictures and using teddy bear counters.  Also, working on numbers 11-30.
Reading/Writing: Our theme this week is Animals Now and Then
Our book is If the dinosaurs came back by Bernard Most
We will be reviewing our sight words: she, he, has and look
We will be distinguishing between fantasy and reality as we learn about dinosaurs and think about our world if we still had dinosaurs living here today.

Author Visit: Cynthia Reeg
Kindergarten will be visiting our author Monday morning at 9:50 a.m.
Mrs. Reeg will read a book to the students, celebrate them as authors and answer questions about being an author.  We are very excited to have an author here to visit our school -- make sure you check out the hallway displaying our work and her books.


All Library books due by May 3rd
The library will be closing for the remainder of the year to complete their inventory.  
Please return all books by Thursday.

Newsletter April 23rd-27th

Jesus Time: We are learning about Pentecost.
Math: Working with Tangrams and learning how to fill in designs and make our own designs.  
Also, working on making a pictograph.  
Make one at home of your families favorite foods.
Reading/Writing: Our theme this week is The Amazing Ocean.  We will be reading Fish Faces and continuing to talk about the amazing creatures God has made.  Our new sight words this week are: has and look.  Try forming sentences at home using our sight words and talking about insects or fish.  We are talking about opposites in our writing as well.  For example: He is small.  She is big.  Come up with more opposite words as you sit around the dinner table!
We now have caterpillars in our classroom.  We will be observing how they grow and change into butterflies over the next few weeks.

Volunteers needed for a classroom project
My mother-in-law, Kathy Endorf will be teaching how to make bricks with the Kindergartners
We need about 10 volunteers to make this work in the classroom, if you are available please let me know!

Missouri Botanical Gardens
