Newsletter April 16th-20th

Jesus Time: This week we are learning about Jesus and how he appeared to his disciples, the two women, a crowd of 500 and other appearances.  We discuss how Easter is not just one day or 40 days but how we can celebrate each day that Jesus died and rose for our sins.  Take some time to discuss some of these events with your child.  He is Risen!  Alleluia!
Math: Learning left and right!  Very tricky -- practice with your child at home.  Singing Father Abraham is always a good song to reinforce left and right sides!   Also, we measured objects in the classroom using cubes.  Find other objects to measure the length or width at home.
Reading/Writing: Our theme this week is Beetles!
The students seem super interested in learning about insects and beetles wanting to know more about God's creatures.  We are thinking of questions and writing about beetles.
Our sight words are: she and he
With letter formation, practice writing your sight words in a bowl of rice tracing the letters.

Don't forget to bring your Chapel Offering on Wednesdays

Jesus Time: This week we are learning about Tabitha, also called Dorcas, how she shared about Jesus by using her talents to glorify Jesus.  Ask your child what talents they can thank God for?
Math: Working on counting by 5's and nickels.  Work with your child at home on how to count by 5's to 100.  We take a cup of pennies and compare them with nickels in class.  Also, learning about who and what are on the nickel.
Reading/Writing: Our theme this week is How Trees Grow.
We are reading our big book about Oak Trees.  Ask about the life cycle of the tree through the seasons.  We are writing about different kind of trees.
We are adding two new words this week to our word wall: said and  little
We use the skywriting method to learn the new words.  Use them in a sentence at home.  When practicing multiple sight words try a fun game, for example make it a Sight Word Hunt.   Place words around the house and have your child try to find them and read the words to you.
Continue to practice letter sounds.  www.Starfall.com is a good website to practice each letter sound.
